To allow the charcoal to "breathe" and protect the raw concrete, we recommend adding a layer of coarse sand or small pebbles to the base of the censer. This provides the necessary airflow beneath the coal to sustain a steady combustion.

Thermal Regulation
Once the charcoal is lit and placed on the bed of sand, place one of the provided mica sheets between the glowing coal and your incense. This acts as a heat regulator, isolating the incense from the direct fire to prevent scorching and allow the subtle aromas to release slowly and purely.

Handling & Safety
While the concrete handle is designed to remain cool during use, always handle the censer with care to avoid accidental burns. Never leave a lit charcoal or incense unattended. Allow the censer and its contents to cool completely before cleaning or removing the ash.

Cleaning
To maintain the raw texture, wipe the exterior with a dry, soft cloth or paper towel to remove dust or ash. If necessary, a stiff dry brush can be used to clear the interior basin once the piece has fully cooled. Do not use soaps, detergents, or oils, as the porous concrete will absorb these and may permanently stain the surface.
